The leading center of aero science and the major local employer of Zhukovsky, TsAGI (Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after Professor N.E. Zhukovsky; a part of the National Research Center Zhukovsky Institute NRC) has followed a consistent HR policy for many years. That includes not only social welfare for its employees but also close cooperation with top Russian technical universities. The aim of this is to train highly-qualified specialists.
Late in October, TsAGI’s scientific-technical information center hosted a meeting with students on employer-sponsored education contracts from MIPT, MAI, Bauman Moscow State Technical University and MPEI. The representatives of TsAGI’s subdivisions spoke about the primary directions of work and innovative projects, specialists in demand and career prospects, and shared their personal experience of taking part in the employer-sponsored program. The event was also attended by the members of the Council of Young Scientists and Experts.
‘Today, 246 students are involved in the employer-sponsored program. Every year the average passing score at the Unified State Exam is getting higher. This means that the level of the applicants’ knowledge and their interest in further education is growing,’ said Oxana Vlasova, Head of TsAGI’s HR Department .
MIPT and MAI have been in the program since 2010, Bauman Moscow State Technical University since 2016 and MPEI since 2019.
Sponsored students are paid extra money, apart from their scholarship, undergo internship and get employed according to the qualifications obtained. Since 2019, TsAGI has been hiring 3rd year students who pass their interim assessment. At work, each student is allocated a highly-qualified supervisor who provides comprehensive support in terms of a student’s early career and his/her adaptation.
After becoming TsAGI’s employees, the program participants receive a number of social benefits: additional monthly incentives, support with accommodation, medical care, reduced price on meals in the canteen, a place in a kindergarten for their children on favorable terms, free classes at Meteor Sports Centre. There is also an opportunity to continue education with a PhD course or attend professional development classes at TsAGI’s Corporate University.
In 2019, over 400 students, including the employer-sponsored ones, prepared their term papers, senior theses and underwent various types of internship at the Institute.
Every year TsAGI organizes a number of activities for school, university and vocational school students, including an Open Day, various tours, an All-Russian career guidance event ‘A week without turnstiles’, etc.
