In the middle of November a representative of the Zhukovsky Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI, a member of the National Research Center “Zhukovsky Institute”) participated in the XXVI workshop on aviation of the Russian-French Council on economic, financial, industrial and commercial issues.
Key Russian speakers were representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia), Rostec and the country’s leading aviation industry enterprises. On behalf of the French aerospace industry statements were made by members of large companies and research centers, such as Airbus, Dassault Systems, Safran, the Embassy of France in Russia and of the Directorate-General of civil aviation France.
The range of discussion issues was very wide-from the presentation of Russian and French aircraft manufacturers’ products to the expansion of bilateral cooperation in major international projects. An important program item was the consideration of possibilities and options in the promising directions of the air transport development, in particular in digital and additive technologies, and the helicopter industry. The parties also discussed the MAKS Air show in Russia and Le Bourget in France in 2019.
Alexander Dvoynikov, the Head of TsAGI’s Sector for International Cooperation briefed the participants of the meeting with the Institute’s history, guidelines and scientific cooperation with French partners. Particular attention was paid to the more than 50 years of cooperation between TsAGI and the French National Aerospace Research Centre ONERA. In addition, in the framework of the meeting the Director of International Cooperation of the Directorate General for Civil Aviation in France (DGAC) Bertrand de Lacombe received a formal invitation to participate in the events dedicated to TsAGI centenary.
“Aeronautics remains a key focus area of Russian-French scientific cooperation,” said Alexander Dvoynikov. “This is confirmed by an unprecedented number of joint projects, compared to other areas of cooperation. The Council meeting offers the two countries an opportunity to coordinate in many areas of development in this area.”
The Russian-French Council on economic, financial, industrial and commercial issues is the second most important organ of intergovernmental interaction between Russia and France since the Russian-French Commission on bilateral cooperation at the level of Heads of Government. Within the Council there are 12 specialized working groups in key areas of bilateral cooperation, including aviation, space, energy, cooperation in the field of innovation, etc.
