TsAGI holds a meeting with the Chinese Academy of Aerospace Aerodynamics (CAAA)
29 August 2019
The leadership of the Zhukovsky Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI, a member of the National Research Center “Zhukovsky Institute”) conducted negotiations with the delegation of the China Academy of Aerospace Aerodynamics (CAAA), headed by President Hu Meixiao. The negotiations took place at the International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS 2019 on August 27 — 29, and were a part of TsAGI’s business program.
The discussion was focused on the cooperation in the field of experimental research, including the development of multicomponent balances for wind tunnel tests. The sides discussed the project’s status and further steps for its implementation.
In addition to the negotiations, the delegation of CAAA made a reference visit to TsAGI. The Chinese scientists focused on the Institute’s experimental facilities: supersonic wind tunnel, vacuum wind tunnel, reverberation acoustic chamber. They also visited the exposition of TsAGI’s Museum.
The China Academy of Aerospace Aerodynamics (CAAA) is a research organization mainly engaged in the study of aerodynamics of flying vehicles in the defense and space sectors of industry. The Academy was founded in 1956 and is located in Beijing. CAAA is a member of the Chinese Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC). The Academy has 25 wind tunnels, including low-speed, transonic, supersonic, hypersonic and arc heater tunnels, with advanced test techniques and measuring systems.
Contacts between TsAGI and CAAA have their origins in 2015. In
