TsAGI holds a seminar on scientific cooperation with the European Union

The Zhukovsky Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI, a member of the National Research Center “Zhukovsky Institute”) hosted a seminar on EU-Russia scientific and technological cooperation in the field of aeronautics. The event took place in late November in the framework of the 16th International Conference “Aviation and Cosmonautics” at the Moscow Aviation Institute (National Research University).

The seminar was supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. TsAGI participated in the event as Russia’s National Contact Point (NCP), “Aeronautics.” The aim of the seminar was to discuss joint research, prospects of cooperation, participation in cooperative research of Russia-EU projects and the mechanisms of their financing. The meeting was attended by, inter alia, TsAGI Director General, Academician Sergey Chernyshev, Rector of MAI, Academician Mikhail Pogosyan, Counsellor for science and innovation, the Head of the Department of Science and Technology of the EU Delegation in Russia Richard Burger, and others.

Representatives of NCP told the audience about the specifics of the involvement of research organizations in the European framework program “Horizon 2020.” They also spoke about the tools to support international cooperation, as well as new opened competitions. Sergey Chernyshev’s report was devoted to best practices in the area of supersonic and hypersonic, giving examples of the cooperation between Russia and the European Union.

“The seminar ‘Scientific and technological cooperation between Russia and the EU in the field of Aeronautics’ solved multiple tasks,” said Sergey Chernyshev. “On the one hand, we gave our colleagues the benefit of experience gained in cooperative projects. On the other hand, we had an opportunity to stimulate researchers to international cooperation.”

The16th International Conference “Aviation and Cosmonautics” took place on November 20-24, 2017 at the Moscow Aviation Institute (National Research University). The purpose of the conference was to discuss a wide range of issues in the aerospace industry. Invited were scientists and experts from enterprises and organizations of the aerospace industry, teachers, researchers, postgraduate students and students from higher educational institutes of Russia, from near and far abroad. The participants exchanged their experiencse and knowledge to development the aviation and space industry as one of the world priorities, finding solutions to current problems and challenges. The Conference was held within the framework of the IV International Aerospace Science Week

The National Contact Point (NCP) “Aeronautics” has been focused on the Institute, TsAGI, since 2004 with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. Its main purpose is the promotion of effective cooperation between the EU and Russia in the field of Aeronautics and the integration of Russian specialists in the European expert community.
