TsAGI specialists do static tests on MC-21 wing torsion box

22 November 2017

In mid-November, 2017 specialists of the Zhukovsky Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI, a member of the National Research Center “Zhukovsky Institute”) completed a strength stage of static tests of a composite power wing torsion box of the MC-21-300. Its head developer is PJSC “Irkut”.

The purpose of the testing was to confirm the safety of flight tests of experimental aircraft with strength-designed wing at maximum flight loads accepted for the designing by PJSC “Irkut.”

The wing torsion box nondestructive test withstood the load which exceeded the stated load. The process experimentally confirmed sufficient strength of the wing torsion box at maximum flight loads of the MC-21 within the parameters adopted for flight tests.
