TsAGI test centers receive confirmation of their testing competence
17 November 2017
The Zhukovsky Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI, a member of the National Research Center “Zhukovsky Institute”), accredited its test centers with the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya).
Six test centers (TC), “Strength,” “Aerodynamics,” “Aerothermodynamics,” “Dynamics,” “Hydrodynamics,” and “Aeroacoustics” confirmed their technical competence in the declared areas and won the right to test aeronautical equipment in accordance with their activities.
Every TC involves from 3 to 12 laboratories, confirming
the volume and diversity performed by each centre.
The Rosaviatsiya commission checked the test equipment, methods and instructions for running tests in the laboratories. In their report the commission commended the competence of the installations for research practice, research and advanced development testing and certification, as well as the scientific potential for TsAGI specialists.
One of TsAGI’s responsibilities is to be the government expert reviewing technical characteristics of all aircraft developed in Russia. The Institute provides complex conclusion records for maiden flights, as well providing the release and conclusions on complex modes of flight tests. The accreditation verifies the Institute’s competence in the field of experimental research and testing of aircraft characteristics in static, thermal and climate strength, structural life, as well aircraft controllability, hydrodynamic and acoustic characteristics.
