TsAGI and other AFLoNext project participants have held at the Institute the Technical Workshop

The Technical Workshop in the course of AFLoNext European project has taken place at the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after professor N.E. Zhukovsky (TsAGI is a member of the National Research Center “Institute named after N.E.Zhukovsky”). The event has taken place at the premises of TsAGI in Zhukovsky, Moscow Region.
The main goal of AFLoNext is to develop the technologies to enhance the aerodynamic characteristics of the next-generation civil aviation aircraft by using the active flow control technologies. The meeting has brought together the representatives of aviation industry and research centers involved in AFLoNext: Airbus, TsAGI, DLR, ONERA, NLR, Fraunhofer, Dassault Aviation, INCAS, CIRA, and VZLU. They have considered the intermediate results of the project.
In particular, the participants examined the results of one of the key objectives of TsAGI in AFLoNext project — the experimental studies of a wing section model in the large subsonic wind tunnel of Institute. The participants visited this test facility, known as the largest one in Europe, where they were shown the tested model.
In the near future, the representatives of the AFLoNext research consortium will be engaged in detailed analysis of the data obtained at TsAGI.
AFLoNext (“2nd Generation Active Wing” — Active Flow- Loads & Noise control on the next generation wing") is a research project funded in the frame of the 7th EU Framework Program under the Grant Agreement No. 604013, where 40 organizations, TsAGI included, participate. The main goal of the research is to develop technologies to enhance the aerodynamic characteristics of the next-generation civil aviation aircraft based on innovative developments in the field of airflow control systems. The project was launched in 2013.
