TSaGI takes part in the European Rotorcraft Forum ERF-2017

28 September 2017

Representatives of the Zhukovsky Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI, a member of the National Research Center" Institute named after N.E.Zhukovsky) participated in the 43rd European Rotorcraft Forum. The event took place in mid-September in Milan (Italy).

The delegation was headed by TsAGI Head of Department of aerodynamics and dynamics of helicopters Doctor of Science, Oleg Kirillov.

Scientists of the Institute were participants of the plenary session where reports on key areas of European helicopter corporations were presented. They took part in the main sessions of the Forum: aerodynamics, acoustics, flight dynamics, simulation and training, structural dynamics, aeroelasticity, flight safety, construction materials, etc.

“We discussed topical issues of the helicopter industry,” explained Oleg Kirillov. “These are rotary-wing aerodynamics, including high speed flight, flight safety, management systems, and issues of indicial aerodynamics.” He further noted that “one TsAGI expert is a member of the international organizing Committee of the Forum. This fact underlines the high international regard for our Institute. At a meeting of the Organizing Committee, we raised questions about ERF cooperation with American and Asian-Australian Helicopter Forums. In addition, we discussed the introduction of new countries to the ERF. This year Poland became a new member of the Forum.”

The European Rotorcraft Forum has been held annually across Europe since 1975. It is a landmark event for the global helicopter industry that convenes to analyze current trends in state-of-the-art rotorcraft manufacturing, as well as identify technological prospects for innovation in the industry. Hundreds of experts specializing in different areas of helicopter construction and representing leading industry innovation centers of Russia and the EU will join representatives of global manufacturers to discuss advances in research. More than 150 participants-representatives from France, Italy, Germany Holland, England, the United States, Japan, China, etc. attended the Forum this year. The Netherlands will host the EFR next year.
