TsAGI participates in the Conference “Modern problems of continuum mechanics and physics of explosion”

12 September 2017

Scientists of the Zhukovsky Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI, a member of the National Research Center “Institute named after N.E.Zhukovsky”) made presentations at the All-Russia Conference with international participation "Modern problems of continuum mechanics and physics of explosion. “The event was dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Institute of Hydrodynamics by M.A. Lavrentiev, Siberian Branch (SB) of RAS (Novosibirsk).

TsAGI experts presented two plenary and three breakout reports and also became members of the Conference Committee. Scientists described the research results of the intensive vortexes descending from an airplane wing, highlighted the challenges posed to the stability of vortex rings, and considered the global problem of occurrence of turbulence in the vortex structures.

“The reports of our young graduates Roman Akinshina, Vladislav Zhvika and Mikhail Yudin were a highlight,” said A.M. Gaifullin, the Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Chief Scientific Officer of FSUE “TSAGI” and a member of the Conference Committee. “Their findings have already been sent to leading Russian magazines and adopted in principle.”

The Conference program included 140 reports on solid mechanics, physics and mechanics of high-energy processes, as well as the mechanics of liquids, gases and deformable solids. The event was organized by the Russian Academy of Science, Institute of Hydrodynamics by M.A. Lavrentiev SB RAS and the Novosibirsk State University of the national research.
