TsAGI scientists meet AGILE Project colleagues

19 July 2017

The AGILE project workshop was arranged within the framework of MAKS-2017. The meeting was organized by TsAGI and CIAM (members of the National Research Center “Institute named after N.E.Zhukovsky”), representing the Russian side in the workshop.

The participants discussed the intermediate results of the AGILE project. The seminar was attended by scientists of leading European organizations: DLR, AIRBUS, THELSYS, RWTH (Germany), ONERA (France), UNINA, LEONARDO, POLITO, NOESIS (Italy), TU Delft, NLR, FOKKER, KE-works (Netherlands), Airinnova AB (Sweden), etc. Within the AGILE project experts are engaged in technology development and optimal solutions for designing aircraft, with each team responsible for its distinctive discipline. Scientists of TsAGI are responsible for research of new aircraft configuration and the development of solutions in the area of external aerodynamics. Specific projects include the “flying wing” project, aircraft of high-aspect-ratio wing and small-planform, with a closed wing, etc.

“The application of modern methods of multidisciplinary optimization along with the development of computing technologies will reduce the time and cost of the development of new models of aviation equipment,” said the researcher of the Department of Power Plant Aerodynamics of FSUE “TsAGI” Kirill Anisimov who heads the Institute work on the project.

AGILE (Aircraft 3rd Generation MDO for Innovative Collaboration Heterogeneous Teams of Experts) is a project of the EU framework program for research and innovation “Horizon 2020.” Work started in 2015 and lasts for three years.
