TsAGI holds XVII “Models and Aerodynamics Approaches” International School-Seminar
14 June 2017
The Zhukovsky Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI, a member of the National Research Center “Institute named after N.E.Zhukovsky”) together with the Russian Academy of Sciences, with financial support from the Russian Foundation for Fundamental Research held the 17th international school-seminar “Methods and models of aerodynamics.” The event, held June
The seminar was an opportunity to inform the scientific community of the results of their research and discuss the focus of promising projects in the field of computational and experimental aerodynamics. One Hundred twenty-five review, oral and poster presentations were delivered, including the result of joint work of TsAGI scientists with their colleagues from MIPT, the Moscow Academy of Sciences, the St. Petersburg State University, the Kazan State Technical University- Kazan Aviation Institute, etc. The main focus of activities were Aero-and gas dynamics, computational aerodynamics, fluid mechanics and gas models, boundary layers, turbulence, pilot installation and measurement methods.
“I’d like to mention a wide range of both the geographic scope of activities — from Khabarovsk to Marseilles and topics reports — from aircraft and helicopter applications to the big bang theory and the theory of turbulence,” explained the Head of the sector of the Department of Research on aerothermodynamics of hypersonic aircraft and space-rocket units of TsAGI, and a corresponding member of RAS, professor Igor Lipatov. “It is important that almost every field of aeronautical science where TsAGI works was featured. The Department of Helicopter Aerodynamics and Dynamics took part in the seminar for the first time. There was great feedback as a result of the reports, making it very valuable especially for young people.”
The school-seminar “Models and aerodynamics approaches” takes place every year. The Organizing Committee is headed by the General Director of FSUE “TSAGI”, academician of the RAS Sergey Chernyshev. Among the co-chairs, leading members of the scientific community, including academicians and corresponding members of the RAS. The aim of this school-seminar is a comprehensive review and discussion of studies on analytical methods and models, as well as computational and experimental aerodynamics.
