TsAGI scientists participate in the II Russian National Acoustical Conference

Specialists of the Institute were members of the Program Committee and also took part in the scientific part of the event, presenting six reports under the section “Aeroacoustics,” a part of which was done in collaboration with the representatives of design offices and universities. In their statements, they presented the results of theoretical and experimental research of turbulent ring vortex noise, the study of aerodynamic and acoustic characteristics of helicopter rotors, the exact solution of the problem of the acoustic propagation in channels with homogeneous flow at a resistance step, the calculation of low-frequency jet noise gain near the plate, as well as the study of the acoustic characteristics of the different degrees of bypass turbojet engines and thrust class and how to use them to reduce noise.
Within the section “Ultrasonic technology” TsAGI specialists in association with their RAS colleagues made a report about the wear of carbon fiber and epoxy matrix composites under the mechanical and climatic loads by means of a high resolution ultrasonic method. Such an approach allowed observing the processes of structural failure of composite samples, detecting microscopic coupling loss zones of structure elements which adversely affected the necessary mechanical characteristics of the material.
The event, hosted by the Federal Agency of Scientific Organizations, the Scientific Council for Acoustics of RAS, the Russian Acoustic Society and the IAP of RAS highlighted a wide range of scientific questions from Aero-, Geoakustiki and Ocean Acoustics to ultrasound technology and acousto-optics. Scientists from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, the United States, Britain, France and China presented a total of 200 plenary, oral and poster presentations. In addition, within the framework of the Conference, an exhibition of scientific equipment took place.
The II Russian National Acoustical Conference is an event to discuss the latest achievements of domestic acoustics in a wide range of actual research. The 1st Russian National Acoustical Conference took place in Moscow in October 2014. In 2017, the Conference was timed to coincide with the 40 anniversary of the IAP of RAS and combined with the XXX Session of the Russian Acoustic Society.
