TsAGI scientists discuss HEXAFLY-INT Project

A regular workshop on HEXAFLY-INT project (High-Speed EXperimental FLY Vehicles — INTernational) took place at the Zhukovsky Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI, a member of the National Research Center “Institute named after N.E.Zhukovsky”) at the end of May. The event was organized by TSAGI, which is a party to the research. The meeting brought together specialists from major foreign centers, combined efforts in HEXAFLY-INT. They were the scientists of ESA (Netherlands), CIRA, TSD, MAT (Italy), ONERA (France), DLR (Germany), GDL (United Kingdom), VKI (Belgium), UNSW, USyD, and USQ (Australia). The Russian parties together with TsAGI were represented by P.I. Baranov Central Institute of Aviation Motor Development (CIAM), the Flight Research Institute named after M.M. Gromov, and the Moscow Institute of physics and technology. Key objectives were to discuss the progress of the project, assess the results achieved and identify further steps. The top priority for the near future was to develop a prototype for flight experiment. The next meeting of the scientists involved in the creation of a prospective aircraft was planned for autumn 2017 in Paris.

HEXAFLY-INT — is the project of the 7th Framework Program for research and technological development of the European Union dedicated to research the concept of high-speed hydrogen-powered passenger airplane. The work was started in 2014 and scheduled for fulfillment in 2019.
