On 26th of May the Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute named after professor N.E. Zhukovsky (TsAGI, part of the National Research Center “Institute named after N.E. Zhukovsky”) was visited by students and young specialists — shortlisted participants of the “Future of the Aviation” engineering contest. More than twenty participants made it to the final — representatives of state technical universities of Samara and Ulianovsk, JSC “Il”, PJSC “Ircut corporation” and others.
The guests visited TsAGI’s most significant places: the big subsonic wind tunnel, static test hall and museum. “The most exciting moment from today’s tour was the visit to wind tunnel T-101,” confided one of the participants of the youth delegation. “It amazed me by its scale, the genius of its creators who implemented their ideas for future developments. But for us — those who intend to work on the creation of aircraft — this visit to the test facilities of the leading aviation science center provides not only strong impressions, but also a precious contribution to our knowledge and experience.” The “Future of the Aviation” contest was held for the first time ever and provided young specialists with the unique opportunity to come in the spotlight and create a real project together with the leading professionals of the field. Among the categories within the contest are “green” aircraft, “non-traditional” aircraft, foresight aircraft, engineering, construction, planning and test runs.
