TsAGI participats in the 150th meeting of the Association of European Research Enterprises in Aeronautics (EREA)

In May the Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute named after professor N.E. Zhukovsky (TsAGI, part of the National Research Center “Institute named after N.E. Zhukovsky”) participated in the 150th meeting of the Association of European Research Enterprises in Aeronautics (EREA). The event was dedicated to the discussion of implementation of European research programs.

At the meeting, TsAGI represented the National Contact Point (NCP) “Aeronautics.” NCP acts on the basis of the Institute and is intended to promote effective integration of Russian organizations in the European research.

The meeting was held on the threshold of the launch of contests 2018-2020 within the EU Framework Programme “Horizon 2020.” Attention was paid to key projects under preparation, which are aimed at the development of cooperation between Russian and European partners. These works will be dedicated to high-speed passenger aviation, safety of aircraft (in the context of icing issues), as well as to the application of distributional hybrid propulsion units. The NCP representative, the head for cooperation with European countries from TsAGI Eugeny Andreev, gave a speech on mechanisms of interaction in upcoming contests “Clean Sky 2” and “Future Sky Safety.”

EREA was founded in 1999 as a non-profit organization bringing together leading European research centers in the sphere of aeronautics and air transport. The goal of the Association is to provide scientific and technical support to aerospace projects, develop and implement a long-term European research strategy, and manage joint initiatives of member organizations.
