TsAGI hosts working meeting of TILDA project
29 May 2017
In May, a working meeting related to the TILDA project was hosted by the Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute named after professor N.E. Zhukovsky (TsAGI, part of the National Research Center “Institute named after professor N.E. Zhukovsky”). Apart from TsAGI, participating in the event were DLR, ONERA, DASSAV, CENAERO, SAFRAN, UCL, UNIBG. NUMECA International (Belgium) acted as the project coordinator.
The TILDA project is carried out as part of the EU Research and Innovation Programme “Horizon 2020” and is dedicated to advanced computational aeronautics methods. The goal of the project is to bring the computational methods based on Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) and Large Eddy Simulation (LES) to potential industrial use. TILDA’s tasks are to develop and fine-tune high-confidence methods and subsequently implement them in the ultimate-capacity computational systems (at least 50,000 cores).
“Each of the participating entities performs computations, the results of which are compared and discussed at joint working meetings,” explained Andrey Volkov, Head TsAGI’s Department for Aircraft and Rocket Aerodynamics. “In this way we work out the best strategies to obtain high-quality solutions. TsAGI’s participation in the TILDA project opens new opportunities for us to resolve complex industrial tasks based on the most advanced approaches to mathematical modeling.”
