Documentary filmed in TsAGI’s Scientific Memorial Museum named after professor N.E. Zhukovsky

30 March 2017

At the end of March in the Scientific Memorial Museum named after professor N.E. Zhukovsky of the Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute named after professor N.E. Zhukovsky (TsAGI, part of the National Research Center “Institute named after professor N.E. Zhukovsky”) the documentary “Star Echo of Mikhail Gromov” was filmed. With the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, VIB-Film LLC is preparing this film for release.

The museum drew the attention of journalists with its unique exposition devoted to the non-stop flight Moscow-North Pole-San Jacinto (USA), which was carried out in the ANT-25 aircraft under the command of Colonel M.M. Gromov on July 12-14, 1937. Among the museum’s exhibits there are: a headset and a glove used by the pilot during his legendary flight; aircraft instruments; photographs of the events during the flight; documentation; medals; awards; gifts and presents; memory books written by the flight participants; their personal belongings and much more. The museum also keeps notes, which the crew members delivered to each other during the flight: there was no internal communication on the ANT-25 aircraft.

The documentary film “Star Echo of Mikhail Gromov” relates how the pilot began in the aviation field, about the war and post-war periods, about his work in TsAGI as a chief pilot, about the establishment of the Flight Research Institute and the Test Pilot School. The viewers will learn about the life of Mikhail Mikhaylovich and about the people who played an important role in his life. A significant part of the film will be devoted to flying achievements and records, among which is the legendary flight across the North Pole. The film was prepared by: Yevgeny Bogatyrev (scriptwriter), Nikolay Maletsky (director), Viktor Dobronitsky (operator). Also, they have filmed such documentaries as “Elena Kalinina on the horse,” “Up along the road leading down” and others. The documentary film “Star Echo of Mikhail Gromov” is planned to be broadcast on one of the federal channels.
