TsAGI’s specialists take part in preparations for the IFASD-2017 Forum

In February, the specialists of the Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute named after professor N.E. Zhukovsky (TsAGI, part of the National Research Center “Institute named after N.E. Zhukovsky”) took part in meetings of the Programme Committee of the International Forum on Aeroelasticity and Structural Dynamics IFASD 2017. The event was held in Milan, Italy.
The committee’s members assessed submitted abstracts of scientific papers, which will be presented at the upcoming forum. A member of the Programme Committee, a leading researcher of TsAGI’s Aircraft Strength Complex, Svetlana Kuzmina, reported: “Twenty-six countries submitted about 240 projects, and the judges will select about 150 projects. Our Institute presented nine annotations of works in the field of computational and experimental aeroelasticity methods, as well as multidisciplinary optimization of structures. Not only TsAGI, but other Russian organizations, such as MSU and Tupolev PJSC, will take part in this event.”
The International Forum on Aeroelasticity and Structural Dynamics (IFASD) is the most important event for engineers and researchers working in this field. The event has been held since 1981. This forum is aimed at comprehensive review of the current state of scientific achievements in aeroelasticity, aeroservoelasticity, multidisciplinary analysis and optimization, active and adaptive aircraft design structures. During the forum the representatives of scientific organizations, enterprises of the aviation industry and some universities had the opportunity to exchange their knowledge and experiences and discuss the areas of promising research works.
