TsAGI is preparing for the qualification stage of the Regional Championship “Young professionals” (WorldSkills Russia) of the Moscow Region

In November, the Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute named after professor N.E. Zhukovsky (TsAGI, part of the National Research Center “Institute named after N.E. Zhukovsky”) was visited by a group of participants of the qualification stage of the Regional Championship “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia) of the Moscow Region for the 2016-2017 academic year. These participants are the students of the “Strela” Branch of the Moscow Aviation Institute and the Aviation Technical School named after V.A. Kazakov, which are together with TsAGI’s employees will form the team at the regional championship.

The Russian Center of Aviation Science initiated the establishment of the presentation category of the qualification stage at the Championship, “Simulation and testing of aerospace and hydrodynamic units (devices),” within the frameworks of which there are two specializations currently proposed — “Modeler of aerohydrodynamic models” and “Mechanic of aerohydrodynamic tests.” It is planned that TsAGI and the technical school will provide technological platforms for the competition on the vocations mentioned above.

The qualification stage participants visited TsAGI in order to get to know its production and experimental facilities. They saw the operation of the model workshop of the Aircraft and Missile Aerodynamics Department, and the model workshop of the research and production complex. To get a visual picture of the aerodynamic experiment, the guests visited the free-spinning, subsonic, transonic, hypersonic wind tunnels of TsAGI.

WorldSkills is an international non-commercial movement aimed at enhancing the prestige of production workers’ professions, enhancing their status and the development of professional education standards and qualifications all over the world. Russia joined this movement in 2012, and the Moscow Region has become one of the leading regions participating in WorldSkills Russia.
