TsAGI management makes a working visit to China
26 August 2016
From 15 to 18 of August, the management of the Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute named after professor N.E. Zhukovsky (part of the National Research Center ‘Institute named after N.E.Zhukovsky‘) made a working visit to China.
The aim of the trip was to participate in the International Forum “Engineering Technology Development Strategies for the Period until 2035” — IFDS of MVE 2016, in Shanghai. Sergey Chernyshev, Director General of TsAGI, made a presentation at the plenary session entitled “Foresight of Aviation Science and Technologies Development until 2030 and Beyond.” The central element of his speech was the planning document prepared by Russian experts with the active participation of TsAGI scientists. It reflects the vision of the future of air transport, including the concept of new aircraft, improvement of propulsion units, materials, avionics, etc.
Chernyshev stated: “The aviation industry sets fundamental goals we are to achieve. In particular, we speak about safer flights, aircraft fuel efficiency maximization, lower noise levels and emissions to the environment. To solve these problems, it is important to map the lines of research that stated in the Foresight.”
The Institute delegation also visited CARDC, a leading Chinese research and development center in Mianyang, and studied its experimental facilities. TsAGI has a long history of successful cooperation with this organization. TsAGI representatives discussed the implementation progress of the joint projects that were started this year with Fang Zhaoling, the recently assigned Director General of CARDC. The first project focuses on application of pulse thermal plasma actuators for aircraft flow control, and the second one — on aerodynamic modeling and flight simulation in critical flight conditions. In addition, the partners discussed new strategic areas of cooperation between TsAGI and CARDC such as research of icing conditions and acoustic radiation of aircraft.
