TsAGI holds rally on the occasion of Victory Day
6 May 2016
On 6 May, the Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute named after N.E. Zhukovsky (TsAGI) held a solemn rally dedicated to Victory Day.
During the Great Patriotic War, TsAGI continued its active research and development activities, including the development of aircraft and other military units. The Institute’s work allowed the country to develop military equipment, which was in many ways superior to the enemy's arsenal.
Sergey Chernyshev, Director General of TsAGI, welcomed TsAGI’s veterans and guests at this event. Opening the festive rally, he said: “The heroic feat of war veterans and homefront workers is immortal. This brings us great happiness to live at a time when we can work with them and learn from their experience, wisdom, fortitude and fearlessness, which these people demonstrated during the war and postwar years.” Andrei Voytyuk, the Head of the city district Zhukovsky, also gave warm words to the veterans.
Students from School No. 9 came to congratulate the veterans on Victory Day. The military-patriotic club “Zvezda” prepared a special gift for the rally’s participants. As part of celebrations, the exhibition of equipment, weapons and trophies of the Great Patriotic War was organized. The rally ended with a concert of the city’s creative groups. Nina Kartasheva, a member of the the Union of Russian Writers; Galina Mitrofanova, the laureate of international competitions; the actors of “Strela” Theater; and the “Yunost” classical folk dance ensemble took part in this event.
