25 April 2016
On April 18, a delegation of the Unified Rocket and Space Corporation JSC (URSC) composed of Yuri Vlasov, Director General, and Aleksandr Medvedev, Deputy for Projects and Programs, visited the Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute named after N. E. Zhukovsky (TsAGI). The executive board of the Russian Center for Aviation Science headed by Sergey Chernyshev, TsAGI’s Director General, demonstrated the Institute’s capacities for rocket and space research to their URSC colleagues.
During their visit, the guests attended TsAGI’s experimental base, including units commonly used in contemporary spacecraft research. In particular, the delegation inspected the hypersonic wind tunnel and hot strength vacuum chamber.
During the discussion, Aleksandr Filatiev, Head of TsAGI’s Aerospace Studies Program, informed the URSC representatives about the Institute’s key areas of research in the aerospace field: “Today, together with our colleagues in the rocket and space industry, TsAGI is capable of contributing to innovative projects. Such projects may concern space transport systems, aerospace transport systems for nano-, micro-, and small satellites, re-entry vehicles, etc. The Institute possesses a unique experimental base, vast experience, and is affiliated with distinguished scholar schools, which allows for comprehensive research in the space exploration field.”
