TsAGI has developed environmental comfort test laboratory
27 December 2013
Specialists of the Moscow Research Complex TsAGI have developed an environmental comfort test laboratory — ILEK. The laboratory allows exploration of the parameters of the human presence in the cabin that ensure a sense of comfort, e.g., cabin acoustics, state of air flows in the cabin, the air conditioning system (ACS), etc. The basic “carrier” for the implementation of the laboratory is the acoustic test bench AS-14 (NIO-14, Dubna), which is based on the airframe cabin of the passenger aircraft Yak-42.
The idea of creating a bench for the experimental study of ACS air flows in a passenger aircraft based on the Yak −42 arose after encouraging results in the development of the innovative measuring principle of ultra-low air flow velocity, called imaging -videographic by its authors (A.B. Airapetov V.V. Strekalov). The method is a straightforward Lagrangian method. Its core lies in high-speed digital video shooting of dynamics of continual visualized environment objects recognized by software machine vision means with subsequent processing and delivery of any kinematic characteristics (trajectory, velocity, acceleration).
According to the chief ideologist in the creation of the new laboratory, Chief of the Industrial Aerodynamics Department Alexander Ayrapetov, the most important result of this work is the emergence of technical possibilities of experimental measurement of ultra-low criterion-level velocities
